Libertarian Duo Shakes Up Titusville Rally with Bold Stance on Immigration and Environmental Solutions
Chase Oliver and Nathan Slusher Ignite the Crowd in Brevard County Rally, Promoting National Freedom and Local Environmental Action
On Sunday, October 22, 2023, Libertarian Presidential candidate Chase Oliver joined the stage with Brevard County Commission candidate, Nathan Slusher in Titusville for a rally on the Indian River. You can view a full video of the event here: https://fb.watch/nR5Rk3ljbb/. The freedom rally was put on by the Libertarian Party of Brevard County.
The rally is on the heels of the LP Presidential Debate in Jacksonville on Saturday evening and another Libertarian Party of Brevard County event on Friday afternoon, which featured opposing LP presidential candidate, Mike ter Maat. There are nine candidates seeking the nomination for president by the members of the Libertarian Party at their national convention in 2024. There will be more LP presidential debates coming up over the next year. The Libertarian Party presidential nominee will face the Democrat and Republican party nominees in all 50 states, as well as independents like Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
First up for Sunday’s event in Titusville was Chase Oliver, a 37-year-old Libertarian activist living in Atlanta, dubbed “…the most influential Libertarian in America…” by Rolling Stone. Oliver is looking to update America’s immigration policies for the 21st century. Before the event, Oliver stated, “Whether it be, a lot of young people are extremely concerned about the immigration crisis in this country. And by the way, it's a crisis not created by immigrants. It's created by the government.” Oliver also went on to attack the reckless spending of both Democrats and Republicans over the last several decades, stating, “So I think it's time we provide a new voice with new enthusiasm, with new fresh ideas for the 21st century. That's why I want to be your candidate, because I know I can be a great messenger of the libertarian philosophy throughout the 2024 election cycle. There are so many issues where we have to have a libertarian voice, whether it be the extreme rising inflation and cost of living that are happening through households all over the country, whether it be housing, the cost of food, or any other area the cost of living that has been driven out of control due to reckless inflation that's caused by reckless government spending.”
Next up to speak was Nathan Slusher who is running for Brevard County Commission in District 1. Slusher is one of six candidates vying to represent District 1. Slusher spoke about the environmental problems with the Indian River and how the other candidates are looking for the government to fix the problem, while Slusher wants the property owners to fix the problem.
“The best solution I have heard yet that should start this process is seagrass. We all know the lack of seagrass in our river it's a problem,” Slusher said; and continued, “we don't need to tell people that seagrass is a problem without a solution. We don't need to tell people just go seagrass and fix it. Let's empower our citizens to grow seed grass. Let's empower the businesses that have built along this river up and down to grow the seagrass for us instead of letting the government handle it. Let the people with the power in the property handle it. For instance, if one of these businesses owned land that's underwater out here, let's give them a percentage of their property taxes off for every percent that is a solid seagrass bed, and every year it must be checked and every year it must be kept up because once that seagrass starts coming back the river starts coming back. But until we're done pointing fingers, it's not going to happen.”
