Libertarian Presidential Candidates Visit Brevard County, Florida
Mike ter Maat and Chase Oliver rally voters ahead of the 2024 election
In the heart of the Sunshine State’s Space Coast, where the air hangs heavy with dreams and ambitions, some Libertarian Party's presidential contenders are blazing a trail. Just last night, the indomitable Mike ter Maat descended upon Brevard County, Florida, like a renegade preacher, bringing the gospel of hope and enlightening the masses about his audacious Gold New Deal. Ter Maat, a man of unyielding conviction, was not alone in his crusade. He was joined by Grover Bentley, a candidate with a fire in his belly, vying for the coveted seat in Florida House’s District 33.
Also, LP presidential candidate Chase Oliver will be in Brevard County, Florida this Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Veterans Memorial Park, 8 Broad St, in Titusville.

Mike ter Maat started off last night’s libertarian dance of words by speaking about his time as a South Florida police officer and how libertarian policies can help the poorest among us. He also got into the COVID epidemic and the strong arm of government and its ruinous effect on one’s autonomy, “Personally. One of the things that has really motivated me over the past couple of years is the idea that our federal government does not respect your right to make decisions on your own. Of course, I'm talking about the COVID regime of just a couple of years ago. How many folks here resent the idea of the federal government telling you whether or not you should take a vaccine? Now you should be able to take a vaccine if you want one and you should have the right to keep your job and decide not to take the vaccine if you don't want one.”
Ter Maat went on to talk about how the government has created unintended consequences for the very people it tries to help, “People who are so often trapped in poverty, trapped in what I call persistence, intergenerational poverty, because of bad public policy. People who are reliant on our public schools don't have the opportunity to go to a competitive school system. They have to go to the monopolized local public school system. People who are trapped by the world's most oppressive criminal justice system. I know what I'm talking about. I spent most of the last 13 years as a cop.”
Next, Florida House District 33 candidate Grover Bentley took the stage, informing the crowd of how his service in the 101st Airborne and his time in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom show him the “horrors of war.” Spending time in the heat of war overseas led him to the freedom movement, which he did not find within the Republican or Democrat parties. For Grover, the Republican and Democrat parties were no longer vessels for his vision of a better world. He had journeyed through the crucible of war and emerged as a warrior for freedom, a maverick seeking a new path to shape the future of Florida. In his words, he embodied the spirit of individualism and the unwavering commitment to a more liberated tomorrow.
