Does Florida Need SAPA to Protect Second Amendment Rights?
Biden Admin Will Use Maine Massacre to Push Gun Control Across the Nation
The Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) is a bill that would prohibit Florida law enforcement officers from enforcing any federal gun control laws. It might make its way through the Florida legislature in the upcoming 2024 legislative session, and it has the support of Governor Ron DeSantis. Supporters proffer that it is necessary to protect the Second Amendment rights of Floridians. And is it necessary, for the U.S. Supreme Court is supposed to act as a backstop against unconstitutional laws passed by Congress and signed by the President? After all over the decades, we have seen dozens of such laws struck down as unconstitutional by an overzealous Congress and President.
The Second Amendment Preservation Act is being promoted as a must-pass bill for anyone who cares about the Second Amendment or the future of freedom. Our nation guarantees the right of individuals to keep and bear arms via both the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article 1, Section 8 of Florida’s State Constitution. And keep in mind, that this is a right, not a privilege granted by the government.
In Florida, 38 out of 67 counties, 3 cities, and 1 town have adopted Second Amendment sanctuary (or other pro-Second Amendment) resolutions. In 2013, all 67 sheriffs in Florida signed a letter saying that they would not enforce laws that violate the Constitution or infringe on the rights of the people to own firearms. Though I don’t believe Palm Beach County Sheriff Bradshaw, as in every interview I’ve seen, he seems to detest the citizens’ right to possess a firearm. And Lord forbid if someone uses cash for a transaction, they must be up to no good.
The Biden administration is using the bowling alley massacre in Maine as an excuse to push for more gun control. The Biden administration is salivating at the chance of using the blood of the innocent dead in Maine to spin gun-control gold.
If SAPA is not passed, it will force Florida cops will undoubtedly violate the Second Amendment rights of Floridians. I should note that a federal court struck down a similar SAPA law in Missouri down in federal court as being unconstitutional, though it has not been tested in the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS).
Don't forget: gun owners share zero blame, zero guilt, and zero responsibility for the actions of crazed violent killers. The detrimental federal policies of social deconstruction, the Marxist takeover of our schools, and the historic proliferation of psychotropic drugs for kids are wreaking havoc on our nation, so DON'T BACK DOWN.
We need a passionate defense of the Second Amendment and a warning against the Biden administration's gun control agenda. I believe that the Biden administration will use the bowling alley massacre in Maine as an excuse to push for more gun control. So, while SAPA is supported and not supported by Second Amendment enthusiasts, it should be an interesting ride during the 2024 Florida legislative session.
