Bloodshed in Ukraine & Gaza: US Foreign Policy Fails
Americans must demand a shift to non-interventionism
The American War Machine continues to flex its muscle in Ukraine and Gaza. The death toll rises as billions of our taxpayer dollars fuel the bloodshed. Yet, amidst the suffering, we can clearly see the abysmal failure of American foreign policy. Our leaders seem incapable of anything but blind belligerence, fueling the conflict for shadowy objectives that never materialize.
This insanity has its roots in Ukraine, which is over a decade old. This did not start a couple of years ago, as many Americans have been led to believe, but it started in 2014 and beyond. U.S. politicians, like mindless automatons, have poured billions of our tax dollars into a war that Ukraine cannot win -- I said this from the onset and was criticized repeatedly, though now, the American people are just now realizing this truth. Russia systematically dismantles Ukraine's defenses, while Washington stubbornly ignores any whisper of negotiation or diplomacy. It's a foreign policy born not of reason, but of craven electoral concerns. Democrats and Republicans desperately seek to avoid embarrassment in the looming November elections and soldier on with their propaganda campaign, lying to the American people that Russia is on its last legs, regardless of the cost to Ukrainian lives. Biden has utterly and completely botched this situation, and now we all pay the price.
The latest $61 billion price tag to feed the Ukrainian war machine further exemplifies the disconnect between Washington's priorities and the needs of the American people. Our own country is falling apart, yet our representatives seem more concerned with funding foreign wars than the fundamental welfare of their citizens. It’s a twisted calculus that exceeds even the Pentagon's bloated budgets.
This warped focus on foreign interventionism isn't new. Remember those who orchestrated the 2014 Maidan uprising, figures like Biden, Nuland, and Blinken? The Ukraine disaster represents the culmination of decades of disastrous meddling in a nation far from our shores.
But Ukraine is not the only humanitarian catastrophe our tax dollars are bankrolling. In the Gaza Strip, Israel wages a genocidal war against the Palestinians. American-supplied weapons rain down on schools, hospitals, and homes, killing civilians indiscriminately. It is a scene of pure horror, one the International Court of Justice has labeled as an act of genocide. While Israel had a legitimate stance to respond to the October 7th attack from Hamas, it has gone far beyond a reasonable military response, and we are complicit in this expanded military operation. While most Americans supported Israel’s initial response and continue to find Hamas a terrorist organization, Americans are realizing things have gone too far. And while most want a ceasefire, the Biden administration will not entertain anything but a pro-war position.
Where is the American condemnation of genocide? Instead, we have Secretary of State Blinken lamenting the situation as he writes another blank check for the Israeli war machine. You cannot call it anything but government double-speak, while claiming to want to de-escalate, the Pentagon continues to support war. It's an astonishing display of moral bankruptcy. The Palestinian people are driven from their homes, and subjected to what can only be called a systematic ethnic cleansing. While such an allegation may have been seen as atrocious a few years ago, it is clear that is what is going on today, yet our leaders turn a blind eye, content to parrot Israeli propaganda. Our continued involvement is undoubtedly going to come back and bite us soon via blowback. Do we never learn?
In both wars, we stand as complicit actors, accomplices to slaughter. We are told that these entanglements to preserve our national security or uphold some vague notion of "democracy." But these are hollow justifications. Our leaders have devolved into puppets for the military-industrial complex and foreign special interests, their minds clouded by political expediency rather than the rational pursuit of our national interest.
The solution is evident and we must demand a fundamental shift in our foreign policy. We must to a doctrine of non-interventionism, not to be confused with isolationism. We must focus on the security and prosperity of Americans here at home. No more blank checks for foreign conflicts. No more squandering American blood and treasure on misguided crusades that bear no fruit.
America faces grave challenges – the most important of which is a ballooning national debt. Yet, the powers that be choose to obsess over battles thousands of miles away, with no rational discussion on how we are going to fund the interest on our national debt, as our debt-laden fiscal house continues its decline.
This pathetic spectacle must end. It is time to demand accountability and restore rationality to our foreign policy, placing the security and well-being of America and our people above all else. We must reclaim our nation, not as conquerors, but as responsible stewards of our own destiny. It is a task only we, the individual citizens, can undertake. Let our voices rise in a chorus so loud that the entrenched interests in Washington can no longer ignore them.
